Its use means safer digging practices while minimizing injury or disruption hazards. It is a multi-function digital locator with depth measurement and is easy to use on site. It locates a wide variety of underground pipes and cables, permitting safe excavation. The tool is operated in one of three modes : Power mode: used alone, it detects current carrying electrical cables Radio Mode: it detects ambient radio signals re-radiating from metallic conductors such as pipes or cables Generator mode : used in combination with the SG-V signal generator and Sonde transmitter, it detects signals on metallic and non metallic pipe. When a transmitter signal is on the line, an accurate depth indication is obtained by pressing the depth button.
